I will never go back there again! The food was terrible and served super old rice crepe shrimp. It was yellow and transparent as if it was microwaved. Don't waste your time or money.

I had not been out for Dim Sum in almost a decade. When a friend held her annual birthday meal here this year, I decided that I had to go. We were over 30 people in our group, and they put us at three large, round tables in the back. Each table had a large "lazy susan" in the middle to facilitate the sharing of dishes. For those not familiar with Dim Sum, it is small bite-sized Chinese dishes typically served in steamer baskets or on small plates. Carts of these fully cooked items are wheeled around the restaurant by servers, and you choose what you want.I am not a huge fan of steamed buns (Bones is a definite exception to this rule), as I generally find them too filling, and frequently too far on the sweet side of flavor-ville. The ones here are like that, but the quality seemed good. For my culinary adventure on this Sunday, I sampled: shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, deep fried shrimp balls, stuffed green peppers, turnip cake, steamed BBQ pork buns, spareribs with bean sauce, sesame dumplings, sweet rice in lotus leaf, sauteed Chinese broccoli, pan fried house noodles, and I am sure I am missing a few items. Most of these items were quite tasty. A few were outstanding. And a couple were not to my liking (like the sickly sweet sesame bun). I drank water and tea, and generally made a pig of myself while having a good time talking with friends, some folks I had not seen in years, and some new people. When the bill came, the gratuity (a reasonable 15%) had already been added on. The shocking part was that for our table of 9, the total cost (including tip) worked out to just over $13 per person. That is an incredible deal. I would definitely recommend this place to others. Come early, and come hungry.

The new chefs cook AMAZING stuffs. Top quality. If you haven't been here for a while because things tasted unexciting, it is definitely worth trying again. We weren't planning on dining here, but was convinced by our friend who is an Asian bakery chef. The hargow (steamed shrimp dumplings)m often a test for a Chet's calibre, was top notch. The dinner dishes were fresh and delicious. Ditto Nancy's review about lobster. 4 full and satisfied bellies for $15 a piece!

The Empress has new dim sum chefs!!! They've recently changed. They have a lot of new menu items!! It's the only place in town that has dim sum that is remotely close to NYC or SF. You have to try the shrimp and chive dumplings and the scallop dumplings. I also went there for dinner. They have BOGO lobster!!! We got their house special. It was so good that I licked the shells after like a lobster lollipop.

Oh, Empress...writing this review has done a number on me. I want to give it two stars and bitch about how greasy everything is, or complain about how cold half of the dumplings I had today were. But, then I want to give it five stars, because I get excited when we pull into the parking lot. I rub my hands together in greedy anticipation when I hear the squeaky little wheels of the carts nearing my table. I want to say "YES! A million times YES!" to every little metal bowl of sodium saturated goodness. So, I'm going to give it three stars. It isn't fancy, the food isn't amazing, the service has been at times excellent and other times lacking. I haven't used the restrooms, but after reading some of the reviews here, I think I'll make sure to continue that tradition.Standout dim sum for me? Shrimp and Chive dumplings, Fun Gor, Shu Mai, Egg Custard Tarts (I could eat 30 of these in one sitting, no lie), and my boyfriend SWEARS by the sesame balls, but I don't care for those anywhere. And, the prices are fantastic, let's face it. At our hungriest, my boyfriend and I barely break $20. Hell, we didn't even break $20 today.

This was the second time I had been to The Empress. First time was good. I just moved to the area and it was the first dim sum place I saw. So I went a second time. Food was still good. Service sucked! The waitress could barely speak English and had us writing what we ordered (aside from the dim sum). Then another waiter helped her out.The reason why I am not going back to this restaurant is because I may have accidentally checked on the paper for a B2 instead of a B1. When the waiter brought our food, I told him we ordered the B1 and he said no we ordered the B2. I asked him if we could exchange it since that was not what I wanted. He plainly said no. I understand it may or may not have been my fault since he wouldn't show me the paper, but still I have never been to a restaurant where they would not take the food back if we weren't satisfied. If I had ate it or even touched the plate, I would have understood why he said no. But we did not even touch it.So just for that and how the waiter treated me like I didn't matter...I will be going to another dim sum place from now on.

Empress used to be the spot for Dim Sum. The food is hit and miss. We also had their chow fun and the noodle was over cooked and mushy. With so many newer Dim Sum joints within few blocks, I think it will be awhile 'til we stop by again.

Its simply the best place in town. It's not very Americanized. The menu's are written in both Chinese and English. Most people go for their dim sum, but their main menu is great too and extensive. As far as the Chinese community goes, this is their nice place. Wedding receptions happen here etc.... I always order the duck breast as an appetizer, just delicious. They take chinese food to the next level up and its obvious.

The Dim Sum was pretty tasty although the service was a bit slow for it being lunch time on a weekday. We were digging the grub up until we got up to leave and noticed a cockroach on the tablecloth belonging to the table across from us.Kind of left a bad taste.Seeing that I have been to Denver twice, and eaten here twice, its likely that I will give them another chance on the next trip.

I really don't understand. This place won the 8th best Chinese restaurant in the US...I just had to try it. Everyine on Google is giving rave reviews...maybe I went to the wrong side of the restaurant...I don't know. I placed an order for pick up. It was quite simply the worst food I have ever paid for...hands down. I could have had better tasting food from the old people handing out free tasters in the frozen foods section at Sam's Club. Seriously...the sesame chicken was cold, rubbery, and consisted of 95% breading. The egg rolls were so bad I was gagging through the only bite I dared to try. Just about the only thing that seemed edible was the steamed rice...and that wasn't even that good either. What a dissapointment! I recommend going across the street to Saigon Bowl...MUCH better, and consistent. One other thing...the decor in the Empress was, well, a joke? It looked like it was from some bad 80's movie starring Steven Segal in a China Town hole in the wall... ...? More ?
